Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. He blends jazz from the soul genre with R&B in a distinct mix. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway up to the Democratic National Convention to the European music scene and the club scenes. Sunshine was born Denise White. While she is living in Atlanta now, Sunshine is born in Chester Pennsylvania. In Chester Pennsylvania she started out as a musician, singing and playing in the local church. She was a student at Spellman College and began to master the R&B styles of Atlanta. She took on the role of primary pianist for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- and Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her about being the choir leader of the production. Sunshine was recognized nationally through her performances on four consecutive days during 2008's Democratic National Convention. She was later invited to sing during President Obama's 2008 inauguration.
